All,
I successfully backed up my copy of Payback HD-DVD using AnyDVDHD and noticed a few things that are different from my other HD-DVDs.
First of all the main feature is encoded in MPEG4 AVC, whereas the majority of my HD-DVD discs are in VC1.
Secondly, the Un-encrypted movie (either form hard drive or direct from disc using AnyDVDHD) WILL NOT PLAY on my non-HDCP nVidia 7600GT via DVI, but will will play on the machine using the lowly 7300LE via VGA!
Does this have something to do with the MPEG4 AVC encode? It appears to be the only difference from my other HD-DVDs. Moreover, the lead in and trailers on the disc are encoded in VC1 and seem to play fine either through DVI or VGA.
Both of my machines are identical save for the video cards. My equipment is E6300 Core 2 Duo 1gb ram, WinXP OS. My software player is PowerDVD 7.3.
Blutach, if this is the wrong forum please move to the appropriate area. At this time, I don't know if the issue is a decrypting problem or a software player problem.
