I have been trying to use Windows Media Encoder to turn some Xvid into Xbox360 friendly WMV's. The system im Vista Ultimate 64bit and i have a Xvid codec installed on it, which plays the file without and probelm is Windows Media Player.

Problem is, when ever i load the video file into Media Encoder, i get an error stating that cannot add the source due to not having the required codecs installed.

I'm assuming this problem is related to having 64bit version of vista but is there any way to get around this?

Thanks.

Update ****** Tried a couple of other converters including videora Xbox 360 Converter and they fail too.

Are you using a 64-bit version of the Xvid codec? Are you using a 64-bit version of WME9? If they don't match - it won't work.

Yep if you use the 64bit WME you also need to install the 64bit xvid.

You can install celtic_druid's 64bit xvid.

I would highly recommend using 32-bit WME9 and codecs instead. You're unlikely to see much benefit in using the older 64-bit version.
