I have been working on 4 AVIs, converting them to NTSC DVD_TS. In their native form, they were PAL Xvid AVI. The only remaining problem I have is the changing aspect ratio. They were 1.75 to 1. After conversion, they are about 1.66, or less, giving a squeezed look. If I try the conversion in 16x9, the image is stretched. Is there a way to correct this?

Hi!converting them to NTSC DVD_TSI presume you mean conventional NTSC DVDs.

As others are wont to say here, "Help us help you!":

1) What software and procedures are you using?

2) It might be FAR easier and quicker to use the "fast and dirty" method (described elsewhere in the forum) of using VOBBlanker and IFOEdit to change information in the .IFOs of your original PAL DVDs

As I stated in the OP, these are AVIs. I do not have the original material to work from. I have used Boilsoft to do the conversion. Sweet program. However, it does no retain the original AR. My quest is to find a way to correct the change, so I can author them into an NTSC DVD.

You are implying I am doing something illegal, or that will put the forum at risk. This is not the case, nor will it ever. These are AVIs, sent to me, with no copyright or DRM infringement! They are 100% legit.

I have recieved invaluable assistance from the membership during my foray into DVD authoring, and the like. I thought I would be able to get help with this problem.

You are implying I am doing something illegal, or that will put the forum at risk.I'm not implying anything.

If, as I suggested, you read the "Announcement" at the top of the "Newbies" page, you'll note that it's fairly absolute with regard to referring to any downloaded materials.

Of course, it's up to the moderators as to whether your post is okay - and that's why I merely suggested you re-read the rules and the "Announcement"...

Success! DVDSanta does an excellent job. One proceedure, instead of the multiple steps I was anticipating.

I've discovered a better program. ConvertXtoDVD. A bit quicker than Santa, and straightforward to use!

Enjoy,
