Hi, Recently i've encountered problems playing back video files.
Mpeg-2 NTSC DVDs (720X480) would playback at 720X540, making the screen look stretched. Also, I don't receive any bitrate, audio, or fps info for any video types. Mpeg-1, mpeg-2, h.263, h.264, vc-1, etc... I've downloaded cccpi but it wasn't very helpful, it looks like i'm out of luck.

The media player used was mpclassic.
Under Play - Filters for mpeg-2, I see the following:
Default DirectSound Device
Video Renderer
Audio Switcher
Overlay Mixer
Ac3filter
Mpeg-2 Video Decoder (low merit)
Haali Media Spliter (A:R)

For DIVX I get:
Default DirectSound Device
Video Renderer
Audio Switcher
Overlay Mixer
Ac3filter
ffdshow video decoder
AVI Splitter

This all seemed to have happened when i installed the combined community codec pack. It was the first and only codec pack i've installed on a fresh pc (windows xp home), and ever since it seemed to have been broken.

Any Ideas?

Yes, remove the codec pack. The only one I'll trust is the Gordian Knot codec pack. Otherwise, install only the codecs you need.

I removed the codec pack, and all other filters, but whenever I install any other packs such as gordianknot, I get the same thing. Is there a way to remove all video codecs and start anew?

I think I fixed my problem, I'll reply back as to how i did it after I confirm it :D

Update---
I fixed it by installing the k-lite codec pack. It spotted out all the inconsistencies and had me uninstall them, so I uninstalled all the conflicting splitters/codecs, later uninstalled the k-lite codec pack, and rebooted. Everything's now working fine... well sorta.

Now I have a very minor problem, it's with matroska files. I've always had this problem even on the older pc. Matroska files would read the bitrate info for both video/audio streams incorrectly.
For Instance, I have an encoded 704X480 x264 file in a matroska stream with an avg. bitrate of 1435, but the bitrate for the video stream always displays around 60 - 400kb/s, and for my audio stream, (Which is a 384kbps stream) it displays at a constant 24kb/s (using mpclassic of course).

Now after i've uninstalled all conflicting codec/filters, I did a fresh install of the stable ffdshow build by foxyshadis and crew, and matroska splitter. Is there anything I should uninstall/enable ?

what media player are you using to view the files? If you have the CCCP Installed, open the settings app, reset all settings and test the DVD in MPC.
