I noticed something strange the other day, my source was 2:35: non amamorphic with a height of 326. I resized to 480 x 320 (added border to 576) and encoded one pass in TMPG CQ65. The output m2v was 948 mb.
I though I'd try it anamorphic (I can swith my tv to 16:9) so I resized to 480 x 448 (added border to 576) and encoded in tmpg again with the same settings. The only setting I changed was the resize. Anyways, this has given me a file of only 666 MB(scary!)
I know stretching the video isn't going to give me better quality but it produced a smaller file which I find a little strange.
