Help!
Pulp Fiction(PAL) is giving me this annoying problem:
Whenever there is any movement, there are fine horizontal lines running through the picture. I have tried different bitrates but no difference.
Please excuse me if this problem have been posted before.

Hmmm ...
What about deinterlacing ???

I haven't tried that yet. What setting do you suggest? Is "Smartdeinterlace" the best option?

Try SeparateFields/SelectEvery (PAL) first.

Thanks very much for the tip. I'll give it a go soon.
P.S. Happy New Year to all and many thanks to DVD2SVCD for such a brilliant program.

I had this problem also and it was fixed with selecting SeparateFields / SelectEvery PAL. Thanks!
Now, up until now I have just used the default options in the doom9 guide, which was No Deinterlacing. How do I know what to use now? I am in Australia so the DVDs I am converting are region 4 PAL, but as for interlacing...?

Use the preview option. Then use "Next Frame" a few times, if you see Horizontal Lines then you use a deinterlacer (like selectevery).

The preview option window is too big for 800x600 display? I have to re-size to 1024x768 to be able to see the options below the picture grab frame.
No big deal, just wondering if this a bug or a feature?

Does the DCTType attribute have any bearing on this ? That is, in bitrate viewer where it says DCTType = Field or DCTTYpe = Frame.
I'm in Australia and convert PAL with DVD2SCVD and CCE.
I find that when DCTType = Field, and I uncheck Progressive/Zig Zag on the DVD2SVCD Advanced encoder Tab for CCE, I get real good quality enocodes with little or no mosquito noise and lines around moving objects when played back on my stand alone player television.
I find that when DCTYpe = Frame and I check Progressive/Zig Zag (depending on what Bitrate viewer says) on the DVD2SVCD Advanced encoder Tab for CCE, I get real average to poor quailty encodes with very visible mosquito noise and lines around moving objects when played back on my stand alone player television.
Is this an interlaced thing or something else I am experiencing ?
I have never attempted to use any de-interlace functions in DVD2SVCD with the PAL conversions.

 Doesn't this cut the vertical resolution by half? Wouldn't it be a better solution to use the telecide filter?
