Studio Canal Delayed his last wave of HD DVD discs initially set for March 26th to May 21, they told this delay is due to implement new AACS version (maybe only new AACS key set) on these forthcoming discs:

More, Intervideo, knowing thier Windvd 8 was used to grab keys, stated a new patch will be required for playing the forthcoming HD DVD and Blu rays discs:

Notice: the patch is not available to download on intervideo web site but:
"WinDVD customers who are currently using either HD DVD or BD playback will need to download the free security update from your PC or Drive manufacturer's websites"
Could this disable any feature in drives' firmwares?
They also report:
"Please be aware that failure to apply the update will result in AACS-protected HD DVD and BD playback being disabled."
I think this will not be completely true; old discs will continue to play without this upgrade.
