Capture from HI8

I like to capture from my HI8 Cam, at the best quality (Line out/in is S-Video). Is it the highest resolution
for PAL television signal 768x576 or ?

According to the internet, Hi8 has a maximum horizontal resolution of about 400 lines. However, I'm not sure whether this refers to the total horizontal resolution or the horizontal resolution for a square video. To be on the safe side, you could capture at ~533x576 to obtain the full detail from your source.
