View Full Version : how to remove title labels without removing the movie?

I've using ReJig to convert my TV capture card output to DVD format IFO/VOBs. Very simple, and works perfectly. Then I'm using DVDShrink to select the sections I want using its visual frame selector and reassemble them - not quite so simple but it works perfectly too.
I'm hitting a problem when trying to reassemble a large number of sections. When merging sections, DVDShrink sets each one up as a separate title, and it seems that you can only have a dozen or so titles in one DVD. I'm not certain whether this is a DVD-spec limit or one within DVDShrink, but given how well and how easily these programs work for me, I'm hoping to find a simple way to remove the title structure from an IFO file but leave the VOBs intact to play all the 'titles' in default order. I don't use the 'titles', in fact I prefer no menus at all.
I suspect that IFOEdit should be able to do this, but I can't find any description of how, or any hint within the program. Can it? Or, would I be better off learning PgcEdit?

You can have 99 titles in 99 separate VTS in a DVD. DVD Shrink will make the perfect structure for you. To reassemble titles you have cut bits out of, you might like to try the merge titles feature of Nero Recode, if you have that.
Otherwise, there is a process involving VobEdit and IfoEdit to join titles, but it is somewhat laborous and not for a newbie. An interesting "cousin" of this method is illustrated here (http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?t=60724) (ignore the Chapter Edit stuff at the end).
Other methods involve remuxing with muxman for example - again, not for a newbie.
PgcEdit (http://www.videohelp.com/~r0lZ/pgcedit/index.html) also offers the DVD Shrink plugin which allows for title skipping on a DVD Shrink reauthored DVD in one click. This is not quite the same as seamlessly rejoining the titles, but it is very similar (you might experience a little pause like a layer break at each join).

Hi!I'm hoping to find a simple way to remove the title structure from an IFO file but leave the VOBs intact to play all the 'titles' in default order. I don't use the 'titles', in fact I prefer no menus at all.
A very simple approach would be to use "TMPGEnc DVD Author" v.1.6 (Not 2.0 or 3.0) - and select "Add File" (NOT "Add new track"), in the desired sequence, for each clip you want to add.
You can obtain a FULLY functional free 30 day trial version of this commercial program at:

the merge titles feature of Nero Recode
What's that? The last time I've tested Recode, I haven't noticed this feature.

I think it is only with "re-authored" DVDs (no menus) that you separately import. Click on the "Remake a DVD" option at the main screen.

Thanks. Maybe I'll reinstall Nero to try that...

"You can have 99 titles in 99 separate VTS in a DVD. DVD Shrink will make the perfect structure for you."
I'll try again, then - I must have made some other error the last time. DVDShrink is a marvellous program! especially for a newbie. It sounds like I should explore PgcEdit if I want to try anything it won't do.
Thanks for the note.

This may be a better method....
Get AVIDEMUX, cut out all the commercials/undesired segments. Then do your Rejig-ing. Or use DVDSTYLER to author a simple dvd.
