View Full Version : CopytoDvd problems

Ok so I am using Ripit4me and burning with CopytoDvd(VSO). So here is the problem, several times, it goes thru the burning process saying that it has burned to 100 percent and finalized the disc and all that good stuff and then I go to play the disc and my dvd player won't read it. Actually it goes beyond not reading it. Normally if I put a bad burn in my dvd player it will try to read it for a minute and then come up with 'bad disc' message on the screen. With these it doesn't say that. It is actually turning itself off.

I don't think it's because of the media I am using because most of my burns play great without any problem and I've had plenty of successful burns using this process as well. The movies that it has done this with so far are not super new (Bully, Relative Strangers, Manic) but it's happened with each of them twice (from each rip for a total of 4 times) now (and this is the only time I've had this problem).

I tried starting over from the beginning and re-ripping the movies and it didn't help. I also tried looking thru the script from CopytoDvd and it really isn't helpful at all- doesn't say anything about any errors or anything.

So does anyone have any insight on why it is doing this? Or how to fix it? Or even how to be able to tell what the problem is/when a problem happens?

Thanks in advance!

Hi!

You previously posted regarding burning problems that appeared to be related to your burner:

Did you exchange the problematic burner, or are you still using the same one (in which case, there would be no point in discussing continuing problematic burns)?

I did exchange the burner (for the same kind, lite-on, but I figured it was a problem specific to my burner not to the brand) and haven't had any problems since I did so. I mean of course until this! :(

I don't think it's because of the mediaThose are "famous last words" ;>}

1) Try using "IMGBurn" (freeware) for burning

2) Use high quality burnable media, such as Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden ("TY")

3) Burn at a lower speed

4) Do the problematic burned DVDs play properly on your PC and other DVD players?

5) Do your earlier burned DVDs now play properly on your standalone player? If not, the problem would appear to ie with the standalone player.

To determine the capabilities/limitations of your DVD burner, as well as media compatibility, go to:

www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdwriters

(If necessary, open the Device Manager in the Control Panel to determine the make and model number)

To determine the capabilities/limitations of your specific brand and model of standalone DVD player, as well as media compatibility, go to:

I am using verbatim's (:) I've followed previous advice!:) ) and am only burning at 4x. These discs will not play on my pc or either of my dvd players. My pc simply does not recognize that a disc is even present, one of my dvd players turns itself off, and the other one - after trying to read the disc- a 'stop' message will come up on the screen (like I had actually pressed stop) and ignore the disc. If I press play this will happen again. The dvd player turning itself off bothers me simply because I have never seen it do something like that before. Oh, yes, previously burned dvds (and actually dvd's burned after this as well) play fine on my standalones. It's very odd because it seems to be a problem with these particular movies since, as I said, I have worked on movies after this occurence and have made back up copies without incident.

I will try these movies with imgburn. I have used it previously and stopped simply because one of my standalone's does not seem to like the discs I burn with it. It will read them after some hemming and hawing it just appears to have to consider it more than the other programs I've used.

Idle curiosity at this point - Is this an internal or external burner?
