I have noticed that Dish network has changed a number of its HD Mpeg2 channels to HD H264. Has anyone here been successful in playing back recordings from the H264 channels. I am unable to make CoreAvc or FFDshow play back any of these files, but Elecard player will work. I would like to make a graph but have been unable to find the combination of filters that Elecard player is using. Has anyone else had and experience with Dish Network H264, especially the Starz and Universal HD. Thanks

I wish I could help, but I was wondering...

What process are you using to get the files? Are you using R5000HD mod or extracting from a VIP 622?

The reason I ask is I've been trying to figure out how to do anything with some transport streams I pulled off my VIP 622 DVR. My understanding is that these are not encrypted, and PvrExplorerPro is a cool little utility I used for extracting mpeg-2 based programs and muxing to .mpg container, but it doesn't support H264. I modified the source to just copy the .tsp files off the DVR. The mpeg-2 ones I can open in VideoReDo. The H264 ones I'm trying to play in DirectShow (Haali Media Splitter + CoreAVC), demux using ProjectX, xport - really anything I can at this point.

Just guessing, but I'll bet the h264 streams are PAFF, hence your struggle playing them back. Turn off h264 decoding in ffdshow, no support until later this year. As long as you have a relatively new (<1yr old( copy of CoreAVC, that should work...

hi, I as well have taken tsp file from my 622 dvr, the way I got them to play was by using tsremux, then they usually play in mpc or elecard's player. I usually convert them using elecards converter studio prohd, (h264 or mpeg2) and after that they are much more cooperative with audio sync and editing purposes. coreavc is suggested as well.

DGAVCIndex coupled with its Avisynth source plugin should work.
