Hi,

I have a WMV file that I'd like to convert to XVid, but AutoGK cannot load it. Is there a trick to do that anyway?

I don't use WMV so I have no knowledge about it and what follows is just guessing...

Looking at the FAQ 5.12: " What are limitations/features of AVI input mode?
- your OS has to be able to decode input AVI via Dshow (note sometimes decoder, for instance ffdshow, has problems with certain type of video, so you have to change it..."

Just looked at my ffdshow configuration, video decoder/codec part I see it can decode WMV 1/7 (and so feed it to AGK I suppose) but not WMV 2/8 cause it indicates incomplete.. but it is possible to force libavcodec to decode that codec. You may want to try it and see if working or not and if working are the result good enough...

Hi,

the problem is that AutoGK simply refuses to open WMF files, it doesn't even offer them as supported filetypes (at least their extension is not shown), but if selected anyway it says it cannot support them

1/ Do you have FFDSHOW installed? if not please do and configure accordingly.

2/ If still no luck, I am willing to give it a try but I need a sample; could you cut a small part of your WMF source (+- 5Mb) and upload it somewhere like rapidshare or savefile see http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=96362
