Hi to everyone! I'm about to buy a laptop and I'd like to ask you for some help. What kind of processors, do you think, would offer me a better relation between cost/speed?

I'm planning to use this PC's horsepower mainly for compressing movies with the x264 codec.

The main option is to buy either a TURION64-X2TL52, but for almost the same money I can afford a T5200, or even a 5500.

Any recommendations?

Thanks from now
and apologize my english

Clau

Mainconcept H264 performance

Turion CPUs are here, unfortunately only T7xxx Core 2 Duo CPUs are here (4 MB cache instead of 2 MB, T5200=533, T5500=667 MHz FSB)

Much more of a hardware question, since x264 on most processors will tend to follow general integer performance. I've used both (I've also had a T7400 since a few months before release) and the T5x made a large difference over both Turions, given nearly identical other system specs. (What are friends for, if not giving you hardware to break? Do it with a smile and they come back for more!) Prices have probably changed since, but the Turion won't catch up until K8L.
