I'm not being facetious - That would be a question for a Canadian attorney.
Why would you want to seek opinions (or claimed "facts") from anonymous posters at a video forum?

Last I checked we were legal acquire content as long as we were the only ones to access it(personal use); as for circumventing the copy protection on dvds to GET it on the harddrive, your guess is as good as mine.
if it isn't, well we're screwed eh?

That would be stupid if we couldn't actually take the protection off so we could put it on the hard drive.

well tell that to the DMCA
they seem to think its quite smart
but I really havn't found very many resources on CR law for us 'nucks yet; nor have I heard of any major lawsuits so play it by ear?
