Hi guys,

could you help me out with this one?

I'd like to backup my dvd's so I can play them on my wii. Reportedly, the wii can play quicktime from an SD card. What tool/codec can I use to compress and make quicktime?

Thanks,

Kuifje

Hi!

If you first rip your DVD to an MPEG2 file, I believe you should then be able to convert it to .MOV format using QuickTimePro...

Thank you, seta_rip, for your quick reply,

so there's no freeware tool for it then? Just out of curiosity, what is quicktime anyway? Before posting my question i've meen doing some reading up on your site (great collection of knowledge!), and now I understand that for instance the AVI format is a container in which the actual compressed video (which could be MPEG4 for instance) is wrapped together with the audio (like MP3 for instance). So is quicktime also a container which could contain MP3 and MPEG4? Or is it proprietary altogether?

Again, thanks, and have a nice day

Kuifje

No, QuickTime (Pro) is a program (available on both Mac and PC platforms).

".MOV" is a container created using QuickTime...
