sorry to open a new thread but I can't find the old one.

in today's firmware 3.30 update, PSP is able to play
MPEG-4 AVC(H.264) Main Profile (AVC CABAC)
in following resolution
720×480/352×480/480×272
under VIDEO folder.

also added a small function that you can put a jpg file as the thumbnail of a video file in VIDEO folder.

highest supported setting is
Main Profile Level 3.0@720×480 under 10Mbps and 30FPS

To be honest, I was expecting this to happen. Now that Sony gave up on UMD movies this restriction was pointless to say the least.

720x480 is a very high resolution, but can the PSP play anamorphic video?

Its pointless to use Anamorphic video on a low, fixed resolution screen, the results are always worse then encoding at the display resolution.
