View Full Version : Problems creating a DVD out of a DVB stream using TMPGEnc

Hello,

I've recorded a DVB stream to my computer and I'd like to burn it on a DVD, so I can watch it on my DVD player. I tried to use TMPGEnc DVD Author 1.6 to create the VOB files and such, but when I import the stream it says "The stream is illegal, please use MPEG-1 or MPEG-2". In VLC-player, I tried the MPEG-PS encapsulation method as well as the MPEG-TS, and I also tried to demux audio and video but none of the files I made were accepted by TMPGEnc.

I'm a little desperate right now: every file plays all right in WMP or VirtualDub. Perhaps I need to try another software (I just need to convert MPEG files to VOB and also a basic "menu maker").

Thanks for any help.

Convert it to regular MPG2 via Project X or MpegStreamclip for Windows. dvbtoatsc will probably work as well http://www-personal.umich.edu/~balazer/dvbtoatsc/readme.html

I converted the file with MPEGStreamClipper and it loaded into TMPGEnc. However he's complaining about the video having a wrong resolution, a wrong aspect ratio and framerate for this resolution and also about the GOP size being too long.
I fixed the three first problems with DVDpatcher, but what is GOP and how do you fix that ?

Anyway, I appreciate your help, it solved my biggest problem.
Thank you!
