Hi All,

I am planning to convert all my movies from PAL DVDs to high quality Xvid. A couple of questions:

Are all movies on PAL DVDs originally 23.976 fps and then converted to 25 fps?

If so, would it not make sense to make the Xvid files with the original frame rate (with AssumeFPS(23.976,...), I guess)?

I noticed this with movies where I also have the soundtrack on CD and it is obvious that the speed is different.

Anyone done this 25 -> 23.986 conversion?

Thanks
-Michael

Movies are converted from 23.976 to 25 fps for PAL DVD's. The speed and audio pitch differences is negligible. You can convert it, and there are a number of ways to do it, but before you go to the trouble you might consider some tests to see if you can even tell the difference.

You could install reclock audio filter to change playback speed on-the-fly. So you could hear the difference at once.
