Apparently you can install SSH, and log into this thing like an OSX box. Perian provides the decoder support.

It has a 1 GHz Pentium M and an nVidia 7300 for GPU acceleration (presumably for 720p H.264 content), so there's some cool hardware in there.

I wonder what else we can do with it?

I have not looked at the link you refer too.... but surely AppleTV is capable of supporting the same formats QuickTime Player supports.

QTP7 is capable of playing any SP (simple profile) MPEG-4 Part 2 video with AAC-LC audio placed within either the .MOV or .MP4 containers.

Or... is the linked post suggesting that playback of ASP MPEG-4 (Xvid) video with MP3/AC3 audio placed within the .AVI container is do-able?
