x264.exe wont install!! HELP!

I download the codec and i go to install it and it pops up command prompt (msdos) for a split second then just closes...nothing else happens...help?

x264 is a command line encoder, not a decoder. Please explain what you are trying to do.

i render a video as uncompressed avi ...then i want to compress it with a program...but i need to install x264 and it does what i explained before

Use MeGUI or AviDemux to do the encoding instead, then. x264 doesn't have a user interface.

Exactly. It has a command line interface as already said. It however doesn't have a Graphical User Interface. It also doesn't have an installer.

If you run the exe from a command prompt, then you will be able to read the output. From your post though, I agree; download a GUI.

x264.exe is not the installer, it is the encoder itself:)
