Will any of the Nero Profiles work with the iPod and AppleTV?

Thanks,

Well Recode iPod profiles should work (or I don't know any reason why it wouldn't).

It may be that we'll add another profile for Apple TV in the future, since it supports AVC resolution up to 1280x720@24fps, it is under consideration but not decided yet.

Will the recode ipod profiles work with a resolution width of 640? Or are they just 320?

There should be a profile named "Apple iPod 5.5G - AVC" in the next update, which goes up to 640 reso.

Thanks, that should do it. When will the next update occur?Well, last update was just few days ago, so it will take a month or a bit over.

I´m having a hard time finding information on which rsolutions and fps are supported by the apple-TV. Am I just too blind? So far, I gut the impression that something like 640x...@25fps isn´t possible, only NTSC or Film. Is there some detailed information on the web?
Sorry, if this is a stupid question, but I really can´t find it..

I think this is the only specs Apple provides:

 Frankly I am bit disappointed with NERO. I’ve been legitimate user for years now since introduction of Nero 6 now I am on 7. I was recently strugglin’ heavy putting Nero encoded files on PS3 and now I will fight again for Apple TV (yes I am trying to run digital home here). Before I had managed to create something out of Nero to play on PS3 I have filled my computer with trial versions of some crappy Wondershare and other DVD to PS3 products and now it is happening with Apple TV again.

And what I am reading here – Nero says maybe we create a profile for this, maybe for that, maybe it will be out in a month time – this is a corporate mambo jumbo talk waiting who will support and pay who, while users (meaning me) are suffering. And subtitles – everyone allows burned in subtitles in their software but you stick to your idea (which could be great BTW if widely accepted) – why not support both.

I sincerely hope that this upgrade will come out soon so I will not decide to buy any of those tested, additional pieces of software – that would be ironic – to own big all in one suite and still need to buy another crap to do almost the same.

I have made a suggestion for the AppleTV profile the day it was introduced. I can push this but it's up to the project manager to decide about this feature.

I downloaded the update yesterday, and it´s seem to be working, i choose Nero AVC and HDTV and created a file that played fine on the PS3. it was a short test file from a random website with .TS files.

Got a few bigger ones coming in 720p that i will try tonight.

Thanks for the prompt. As I have said in my post – PS3 I have managed – just uncheck bidirectional prediction box in cinema AVC mode and PS3 is swallowing it. What I am looking for is sort of standard profile of AVC so I can stream it to Apple TV, I can play it on PS3 and other devices maybe with high quality tops. What I see from now and I have been dealing with it only a week maybe is that profile should be simple (like with Divx old days – files were played on different set tops only without b-frames, quart pixs etc). For audio I need to use always LC, speed < 5Mb. I do not know if Apple Tv which I am picking in 14 days (that what Apple told me) will handle 25 frames – the specs now sound very odd – 24 ff on 720p and 30 ff on tv stuff. Anyway I would like Nero to be really Ahead – (but that may not be valid anymore) and create profiles so I do not have to spend hours testing what is playing and what is not.

Well i absolutely agree on this, a build in update function that would mange the update would be nice as well. When there is a update it´s the complete package from scratch, or maybe a searc around the website that i must admit can be confusing :-)

So does Nero have an Apple TV profile now? It has been a couple of months since I asked this question.

Not yet at least.

I just bought a NAS drive and now have enough space to encode my home videos to the drive. The vidoes are std definition. I don't have a lot yet so compression for space it not a big deal, however, I am planning on adding a media theater system in the near future such as Apple TV or Netgear 8000. I am leaning towards the Apple TV. I know it does not support as many formats, but what it does do, it does well. I use Nero and would like to continue. I understand there is not a Nero Apple TV profile. Does this mean it will not work for encoding video compatible with Apple TV or does this mean, I need to mannually configure it? If I need to manually configure it, was would the details be?

Thank you,

Anthony

Perhaps this settings could help you:

You can also find some AppleTV specific information about other tools in that guide.

I know it does not support as many formats, but what it does do, it does well. I use Nero and would like to continue.
But you can extend AppleTV with Plugins (additional codecs, loading files from network shares...). Have a look at:

Since it's H.264/MP4 you can do it manually. Have a look at my previous response in this thread.
