I'm trying to make a script that will run for all the files in the folder and encode them so they can be loaded straight into itunes and onto my ipod.
I'm fine with the for loop and i'm fairly settled on what encoder (mencoder) but i need some help getting the options right, hoping for a little guidance with the following:
1) All of the files are different resolutions, frame rates etc. I was thinking that given this i should use -crf but i'm not sure what the implications of doing a 2 pass encode with -crf are...?
2)What b frames should i use, what's this trellis and prymid and so on all about and will it all be quicktime compatible. Can anybody give me a good set to use that will work well with quicktime(my ipod)?
3)I'm having trouble getting faac to compile on my mac, what should i use to encode the audio to AAC?
4) what muxer should i use? As all my framerates are different do i have a problem here?
5) How do i get mencoder to strip the black borders (if there are any)?
