is there any specific place i can go to find out exactly what kind of divx playback my dvd player supports? i have a samsung DVD-V5650, and it says it supports divx playback, but i want to know what its limitations are (ie, bitrate, size).

i tried putting a movie encoded with the divx converter (from their site) on the home theatre profile on a cd and playing it, and it didn't work. i need to know what i can do to get some playback.

:thanks:

Hi!

A simple Googlesearch for (all on one line) "Samsung DVD-V5650" and "DivX" yielded the following review which, among other things seems to indicate that if you read the documentation, you'll have your answer:

This brought me to much research and the reason this one was drilled down to be the player I wanted was because of Samsung's great website which features the user manuals of all of their products - After reading that manual, particularily the MPEG-4 section, it was decided that this was the machine that answered my needs!
