I have an APEX AD-500WM DVD player and a Sanyo DWM-370 DVD player that both play the SVCDs created using DVD2SVCD. I do not use subtitles, so I am uncertain about subtitle support.

I remember seeing somewhere in the forum a link for CD images to test the capabilities of a player. I would be happy to test the subtitles if someone could direct me to these test images.

edit: By the way, I recently tried the GE 5 disc GE 5805 DVD player and it would not play the SVCDs that worked in my other players.

The above from Doom9 is with CVD subtitles, if you want to test SVCD subs too (yeah, there is a difference between CVD subs and SVCD subs) try this image:

Thanks for the links.

The Sanyo DWM 370 would not play either subtitles. Just displayed a circle with a line through it when I hit subtitle button.

The Apex AD-500WM appeared to play both types of subtitles. The VCD subtitles appeared but were too low on the screen to read the second line. On the SVCD subtitle test CD, the DVD player reacted in the same manner as with the VCD subs (same info on screen), but I could not see any subtitles. Maybe they were positioned off the screen. At any rate, the player did not totally refuse the subs.

If any further testing is needed, let me know. :)
