In AVSforums it was reported that none of the Fox Pathé HD-DVD titles (Deux frères, Stalingrad, Les chevaliers du ciel) released in France, will play on HD-A1 or HD-XA1 players. "No disc" message is displayed. However, they do play on HD-E1 (A2) and HD-XE1 (XA2), although there are conflicting reports about that too. (Thread is here (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=816952&page=2))

"No disc" is consistent with the change in AACS directory structure, and Toshiba players had similar problems with standard content authoring authored HD-DVDs too.

So my question is: Anyone actually has any one of these titles, and if yes, does DumpHD or BackupHDDVD decrypt them correctly?

I guess I'll order Stalingrad ("Enemy at the Gates") after next paycycle, and play with it myself.

Maybe. It is a new disc so it could have the new MKB on it. However, it was also said on AVS that the key revocation would only be relevant for software players and not Hardware. Looking back though, the first HD-DVD Toshiba drivers were basically HD-DVD ROM drives stuck in a PC case so it might be that, as they were not discrete hardware, they were given keys from the "software players" part of the decoding tree. Hence they may have been "taken down" by the AACS gods.

Will be interesting to see if these same people who have the problem Toshiba drives also have a 360 drive and can play the disc both on the 360 and the 360 drive connected to a PC. This would help to verify things.

It's also interesting to see all of these people who are now complaining, sending their discs back, causing the distributor problems, costing people time and money, all because they may later find out that their player is on a blacklist. Will the AACS LA bear the costs for this?
