Hello,
I would like to know if it is possible to capture directly from the Digital Terrestrial Television (DVB-T) a complete multiplex, but in a special file format. The format of this file is .TRP that I think that it is different from .TS . I have been able to capture a complete DVB-T multiplex in the .TS file format, but I need the .TRP file format.. Could I record a file with the .TRP file format directly from the Terrestrial Digital Television of my area...?
Do you know what is the difference between the .TRP file format and the .TS file format?Any documentation about it? Please, send it to me

Could anybody say to me, if necessary, what hardware or software it would be necessary to capture in that kind of file format?

I need your assistance please.

All your help is very appreciated.
Thank you very much,
Exb

In my experience with several transport packet injectors, there is no difference. And there is only one specification for transport streams. Just rename the file from .ts to .trp.

Hello everybody!!

And why do you think that there are two different file extensions for the same thing?I mean, if there is only one transport stream format and representation, then why is it saved in different file formats containing the same information?

Could anyone say to me, where can i buy a DVB-T PC USB card that captures in that file format, or if it exists? I have seen one of the USA, but i supose that it will not be valid in Europe because of the different treatment of the signal in the air.

Best regards,
Exb

And why do you think that there are two different file extensions for the same thing? Because file extensions are not part of any transport stream specification and are just a Windows artifact. You'll see these extensions commonly used for transport streams: ts, tp, trp. There are others as well. Nobody can send you a document about it, because it doesn't exist.

I mean, if there is only one transport stream format and representation, then why is it saved in different file formats containing the same information? It is not saved in different file formats. The file extension is different, that is all.

[For the record, there are different transport specifications, e.g., DirecTV versus DVB, but this isn't relevant to what we are discussing here. My point is that it is quite common see the same transport stream type put in files with different extensions, as with DVB being placed in files named *.ts, *.trp, *.tp, etc.]

Could anyone say to me, where can i buy a DVB-T PC USB card that captures in that file format, or if it exists? Get a card that captures transport streams. Then if you must have a trp extension for some reason, simply rename the file. The capture software will probably also let you choose the extension when you set up the capture.

Try a simple experiment: rename your *.ts file to *.trp and see if it works OK.

I'm also curious to know why you specifically need *.trp files.

Finally, I believe that the Hauppage cards use the *.trp extension.
