If this is not the correct form please accept my apologies.

I am in the process of helping my friend backup his computer. He is a guitarist and has many copies of his songs saved as mp3's. He did not want to be tied to a specific backup and restore application he has been using Nero (7.5.1.1) to backup the files he has created to DVD. He is using BenQ media. They are marked DVD+R 4.7GB and also say DG Picfect RW.

Out of the firs 9 he had made 8 are readable. The 9th is not readable when he tries to viesw it using windows explorer on either computer he has.

However Nero on both systems show 1 session with 1 track that is 4,353,504KB of Data in Mode 1 and the book type is et to DVD-ROM. so it looks like something is there.

Is there any way to read this DVD to see what files it contains?

Hi!

Try reading it with ISOBuster...

I would also check 9th backup disc with Nero CD-DVD Speed, tab ScanDisk, if it really is 100% readable:

If not, make another copy whilst you can.

IsoBuster can't access the dvd

ScanDisk is showing it at 100% bad.

I'll have him burn another copy. I'm glad he runs the dvd through an indexing program so he can quickly find a track he is looking for or we would not have known about the problem

1) make sure the disc has been finalized. if that doesn't eliminate the problem,

Then

2) If it's not possible to make another copy, try using the remarkable (freeware) "ISOPuzzle" DVD recovery program...

1) I'm not sure how to make sure it is finalized. The disk shows 0 free space.

2) My friend is making another backup now and will test it when it finishes.

I may use the ISOPuzzle program just to see what it finds.

Now I need to track down why it doesn't like the Staples brand media he has in addition to the Benq drive. All he knows is the drive is the one that came with his Compaq SR-1200NX and Nero shows it as ATAPI DVD LS 8X16X8X16
