in 3rd annual comparison of h264 Mainconcept won!What are the differences(speed-quality-output size) with x264?

1) For same quality MC H264 done very better speed
2) For same speed MC H264 done better quality

But $500 is alot for 15% faster..........
I wish there was a "consumer" version (home use only) for $99. They would sell so many.
With MEGUI and the x264 the $500 is better spent on a quad core cpu duo (prices dropping next quater to 500-600 btw)

it is really depends on the settings you use. considering latest MSU comparison MC faster by 40% at average with even a bit better overall quality.
Two pass encoding with a bit worse quality was almost 3 times faster (36% of x264 speed)

is there a cli version of mainconcept? (the gui of the demo version seems weirdly restricted)

yes it is. for development purposes and for beta testers only.
