The article;
That the video codec (compressor-decompressor) plays a big part in the compression of HD video is certainly not news and there are a lot of aspects to take in to consideration when working with video compression. Today it's mainly WMV and h.264 that are used for HD compression and the image quality is often very convincing. Even if these codec are efficient when it comes to reducing the size of the video signals there is still a lot to ask for according to the developers at SynchroTek. It has namely developed a video codec for high definition video material that is better than all current codecs. It will offer equivalent image quality at considerably lower bitrates that the leading formats of today, while at the same time use less processing power.
SynchroTek hasn't made an official launch of the new codec yet, but it has published some information in a document for investors. On paper Fairchild looks very interesting and we're eager to see if the new codec will be able to live up to the expectations.
