audio longer than video?

I use SmartRipper to rip the AC3 file and then I use Azid/Lame to make a VBR mp3 file. This worked fine in Windows2000, however when I installed WindowsXP, my mp3 files are always 5-7 seconds longer than the video? Does anyone know what the problem could be?

what are you using to get the length of the Mp3 file? A lot of programs report VBR MP3 files length wrong. WinAmp usually gets it right.
