I have CoreAVC and ffdshow. I got 2 mkv x264 files. One plays fine, the other doesn't start playing. I've tried it in mplayer and VLC and they both play there, but choppy and with audio lag. I'm using BSplayer and was hoping for some answers here. It looks like it will start playing, the video frame opens, it displays the correct resolution for the video and the duration, but pressing play, nothing happens. Any ideas?

After having researching it a bit now, I ran the files through graphedit and it seems that the computer doesn't use CoreAVC as decoder, but in fact using Cyberlink's bundled with PowerDVD. So the question is then, is there a way to have CoreAVC decode the video without having to remove PowerDVD?

find the full path to the offending filter and run this command:
regsvr32 /u "path\to\codec.ax"

Dont belive that are a good options.
regsvr32 /u "path\to\codec.ax will unregister cyberlink filter.
The best options are change priority filter. With Gspot are very easy, and you don't need supress any filter.

Whith Gspot:

System/List codec and other filter
Localice desired filter, in this case Cyberlink H.264/AVC Decoder
Right Click/Set Filter Merit
And low preference, for example Merit_unlikely.

Or you can doing same process for CoreAVC:

Localice desired filter, in this case CoreAVC decoder
Set Filter Merit -> And set this to a high merit, MERIT_PREFERRET

Anyway, the best solutions arent use unregister or changing priority. the best options are using a decent player. ZoomPlayer are the best options for me, Media classic is a good options too. In both cases, you always can choose your own filter to play any video

For example, with ZP, I set this filter for H.264 content:

Haali splitter -> for MOV/MP4 source
Cyberlink H264/AVC decoder -> For h264 video decoder with Hardware support (CoreAVC work fine but dont have support for DXVA yet, and the latest version of ffdshow work very very fine too)
Cyberlink Audio Decoder/ffdshow/ -> For AAC audio decoder (ffdshow work great, but with Cyberlink you have more options)
