Is anyone aware if it will be as good as working with video on xp? I looked up some of the packages and didn't notice a frameserver like avisynth. So does that mean all editing would have to be done through an application similar to vdub?

I doubt it will make it as good as on xp BUT with such a big name behind it, it will (hopefully) get further than other video oriented linux projects.
