I was experimenting with very high resolution files and it seems that Decoding of DivX files is not multi-threaded.
My PC has a Core2Duo clocked at 3GHz. It will just about play 2560x1440/24fps with the CPU at 50-60%. It will stutter and skip frames playing 3840x2160/24fps witht the CPU still at 50-60%. So clearly only one core is being used.
Why???
Surely video de-coding is very easily multi-threadable? Apple uses both cores when playing H.264 QuickTime files. So does the CyberLink PowerDVD decoder for H.264.
