Hello
What is the correct way to encode NTSC movie with frame rate of 29.9?
Usually I use the Force Film option in DGindex.
Thanks

Are you saying you have a 29.97fps movie? That would be highly unusual. Are you sure it is not telecined?
You might have a "hard telecined" movie. In that case do Honor Pulldown Flags and then do an external IVTC with (e.g.) Decomb.
Supposing you were right and it is not telecined... Then use Honor Pulldown Flags. Then if it is interlaced you can deinterlace it if you want. If it is progressive you may have nothing to do, but you may have to apply a field matcher if there is a one-field shift.
Tell us more about your source and why you want to do this.

Hi
The source is an episode of a TV series.
It is a progressive film and I want to encode it with XviD.
I thought I should change the FR to 23.9 - but I might be wrong.
Thanks again

What is the film percentage reported by DGIndex? If 95% or more, use Force Film.
If not, then you need to know if it is hard telecined or pure interlaced. Which is it?
