View Full Version : No center channel on real DVD...

I've got a SoundBlaster Audigy MP3 with a set of Klipsch Promedia 5.1 speakers.

The audigy test program gives me the test voice on all channels (including the center channel), but attempts to get this channel to work when playing a DVD fail.

I've tried PowerDVD and WINDVD with 5.1 support. I'm using W2K with SP2 and the latest drivers.

questions: What audio setup on the DVD should I be using? DTS, 5.1 Dolby Digital? None seem to work. They all play, but no center channel. Are my DVD's not encoded for center channel? I've tried American Beauty which supports:

dts Digital Surround
5.1 Dolby Digital
2.0 Dolby Surround.

I would think one of these would produce center channel audio. Like I said, the Audigy card is set for 5.1 speakers and the 'test' gives the voice on each channel.

Any help would be appreciated
