Does anyone have an idea on how to bring UDF 2.5 support to the current version of Mac OS (10.4.8)? I was thinking that DVD studio pro would have it but apparently it doesn't.
I understand that the next version, Leopard, has it. Could it possibly be so easy as copying some files and modifying some configuration files?
Thanks!

Does anyone have an idea on how to bring UDF 2.5 support to the current version of Mac OS (10.4.8)? I was thinking that DVD studio pro would have it but apparently it doesn't.
I've tried ReadDVD! 1.5.1 but I can't seem to get it to work with the XBOX 360 HD-DVD USB drive. I've tried everything I can think of from disabling Apple's udf.fs to running sudo mount_SAI_udf from Terminal to get it to load into the kernel and mount the volume manually (unhelpful "Input/output error").
What's really troubling to me is that Software Associates' announcement that their ReadDVD! for Mac OS X supports HD-DVD and Blu-Ray disks referred to 1.4 and the Read Me file that 1.5.1 came with it makes no mention of either format.
$ mount_SAI_udf
usage: mount [-egjr] [-o options] [-s startsector] special node
Any attempt to use any of the -egjr options results in an "illegal option" error, and no man page is included or documentation on the install CD.
I have tried logging debugging info for diskarbitrationd and the driver does run, but only noted is its failure on the HD-DVD disks tried (King Kong, HD-disk-sides of The Ultimate Matrix Collection).
I bought this ReadDVD! package specifically to test whether it worked for reading HD-DVD drives on Mac OS X Tiger. Out-of-the-sleeve it appears not, not on a G4 or Intel Mac. It does also install a 10.3 version of itself, but I don't have 10.3 anymore.
I'd appreciate anyone with more knowledge of the insides of Mac OS X Tiger to direct me what else to try. I don't want to wait for Leopard or risk making my system dodgy by installing a Leopard beta.

Looking at Apple's information about Leopard, they don't seem to be mentioning UDF 2.5, 2.6, or HD-DVD or Blu-Ray support, not even in the enhancements made to DVD Player. Are we sure UDF updates will be in the Leopard release?
I'm going to repeat my test of the ReadDVD! drivers on the drive now that I've successfully used the drive with an XBOX 360, under the assumption that it needed to be enabled by the XBOX 360 before it could be used with a Mac. (Did it need use on a 360 to use with a PC?)
