View Full Version : Windows media encoder, does it like anything other than DV?

I wanted to start using this to convert to WMV, but it doesn't like any of my Xvid or DivX files, failing to even start encoding them. Nor does it work properly with vobs from a DVD, even when converted to MPGs, producing a garbled out of sync mess at the end. Does this thing actually work? If not is there anything else that's free that I can use to convert to WMV?
Thanks for any responses.

Sounds like you have some more serious issues with your system. There's no reason why it wouldn't work with properly installed DivX/XVid codecs. Which decoder are you using?

I had problems with it too, trying to encode from an MPEG and an .ts (h264/ac3), it would refuse to open the files right away, might have been a filter problem, but since I can open them in graphedit, not sure what the issue was.
I ended up remuxing my content into .MKV, and that opened and encoded perfectly in WMEncoder.

In WME9? Umm, that's downright impossible.
