I'm essentially looking for something like DVD Shrink for Linux. I don't burn any DVDs, I only use the re-author mode to remove everything but the movie and then rip to a hard drive. The other would be that sometimes you need to use AnyDVD with Shrink in order to get past some opf the tougher copy protection. Is there anything siomilar for Linux?

I just started playing around with Linux (Ubuntu) and I am trying to figure out how I can do my day-to-day Windows activities on it.

You may take a look above:

or try considering using dvdshrink with wine.

Or you could do a search within this forum for RipIt4Me. It runs under Wine in conjunction with DVD Decrypter, DVD Shrink, and FixVTS to decrypt, arrange, and shrink any DVD movie. RipIt4Me is particularly effective against ARccOS/RipGuard protected movies. The programs listed in that link can not deal with ARccOS or most forms of modern copy protection.

There is also this excellent guide for running Ripit4Me on Linux with Wine.

I also have a few other programs working well with Wine.

Most of this stuff takes a little tweaking and there are still some minor issues.
