I hope this is where to put this post: I have a WMV-HD 1080i 5.1 DD video of a Imax Speed and I want to put it on a DVDr as a 1080i 5.1 DD to play on my sony dvd player
please can anyone help

It's not possible. DVD players can only decode until 480p. Besides, the codec used in these players is a simple MPEG2, not WMV9 (i.e. WMV-HD), H.264 or even xVid/DivX.

This HD network DVD player should play it according to its specs.
Your SONY is not going to play it.
