While watching a backup I made of episode 3 from my Simpsons 7th Season DVDs, I noticed that there was a scene that showed some noticeable color ghosting. The scene in question is this one:

Of course, a filter elimination process ensued and I was surprised to find out that eliminating BiFrost (the first filter in the chain) solved the problem. Episodes 1 and 2 didn't seem to show this issue though, so it can still be used, but with caution and careful examination of the end result.

PSA?

There isn't much to add really. Your clip fails miserably. It produces color ghosts because it's a temporal derainbower.

Normally I'd ask what settings you used but they all fail. You could try version 1.1 (http://ivtc.org/misc/) which I released recently but the difference is minimal.

The problem most likely is that bifrost only uses luma to determine if it's safe to blend with the next or previous frames which seemed like a good idea since the chroma has rainbows and stuff (never actually bothered to verify it). Maybe one day I'll try another idea...

Does your BiFrost line contain an SSIQ argument in it? :).
