Hello,
I recently re-installed the xvid codec on my intel c2d E6600 system. I picked the experimental SMP build koepi supply's on its website.
I encode the xvid's with virtualdub, as i'v always done. But, in the compression window i know have 2 XVID MPEG-4 codecs.
The difference is that one has yv12 as FOURCC code, and the other one has xvid as FOURCC code.
I assume that i have to pick xvid, but what exactly is the difference? And why are there 2 different xvid compression methods now? I never had this before.

I would desinstall both, reboot, and reinstall Koepi's again.
All the best,
Sharro
PS: AFAIK yv12 has only logic in "Force Output" not in Fourcc code.

Thats the weird thing, they come both with the experimental koepi xvid build for SMP. If I de-install it, both are gone, if i re-install it, both are back.

Same thing happened to me. Nothing seems to be harmed but now I have 2 Xvid in the codec menu.

Yea me too, 'cept I did'nt use koepi's build, but celtic_druid's compiles. I've uninstaled, rebooted, and reinstalled and I got 2 different options of compression methods. yv12 and original. :p

Well Xvid should be able to handle: XVID, DIVX, DX50, YUYV, YUY2, YVYU, UYVY, I420, IYUV, YV12
My installer only creates a vidc.XVID entry though. To have it show up in VDub as YV12 there should be a specific vidc.YV12 registry key linked to xvidvfw.dll.
Not sure exactly what is going on, but it would only be if you don't already have something registered for YV12 and it isn't a difference method or anything.
