I have a DivX file. It is 3.48GB and contains 25 episodes. When I play it with Windows Media Player it starts with the menu and gives me the choice of episodes to watch. When I use any other program to watch it (including the DivX player), this choice doesn't present itself and I can only watch the first episode. This problem also presents itself when I try to watch it on a stand-alone DivX capable dvd player connected to my TV. Is there any way I can convert this DivX file to .avi?. Under Windows explorer I cannot explore this file to see its contents. Any help would be appreciated.

You might try VirtualDubMod, which should allow you to cut the file into smaller episodes, but it may not be exact. It's presumably done in a similar way as adding chapters to an .avi file, and no, it wasn't done with compatibility in mind. There are no "contents" under Explorer because it's one continuous file.

Hi!
The easiest road to take would probably be to simply use the original 25 DVDs or capture files, that you used to create the one large ".DIVX" file, and convert each to a separate DivX-compressed .AVI - and then burn as data files to a DVD...

I think if you'll load the .divx file in virtualdubmod the menu will be skipped and as CWR03 told you, you can split that large file (not precisely because of key frames) into 25 episodes. The subtitles cannot be recovered.
The interesting thing is that the file is large than 2 GB because many people asked if a divx file can be larger than 2 GB. I think the maximum file size for divx is 4 GB.
The strange thing for me is the resulting sizes of each episode: about 150 MB.
