Does anyone know why DL-capable Pioneer burners, while AUTOMATICALLY performing bitsetting for DL DVD+R burnable media, cannot/will not perform bitsetting for SL DVD+R burnable media?

Possibly because to perform bitsetting the laser must be powered to the point where DL burning is capable. Sl discs, once recognized by the drive, only triggers the laser to power up to a SL capable burn capacity. Hence Bitsetting is not performed when doing SL burns on DVD+R SL media.

  This is just conjuncture on my part. I do own serveral pioneer drives myself. :) :(

edit: Does this sound even plausable........ LoL.

I use Pioneer 110 and 112DL burners. I have never had a problem with either sl +or-r. When I had another problem (not serious) I contacted Pioneer who were extremely helpful. Try their side I think pioneerelectronics.com. It is good.
