I'm trying to convert my vhs tapes to avi format through my PAL Sony dv camcorder which has a dv out function for passthrough.
The problem is that my vhs player only outputs PAL60 when playing an NTSC tape and no picture is displayed on my dv camcorder, only audio. I can capture PAL vhs tapes fine.
What can I do?

Without getting additional equipment, there isn't much you can do. :(
You either need to get a VCR that will play NTSC tapes with the colour signal encoded correctly or a dedicated device that will do it. The VCR option will be the cheaper.
Then, you'll need a miniDV camcorder (or dedicated DV converter) that can support A-to-D conversion of NTSC.
So, your best and least expensive option would be to get a dedicated DV converter box.

I guess I'll try to use the nvidia wdm video input on my 7800gt graphics card.
Thanks
Have a look at my solution:
