very interesting article. i'm impressed. but i can't afford a DVD-burner at the moment...

what adjustments would you make to fit this for SVCD (i could scale it myself, but i'm not sure what the results will look like)



by the way, have you checked out the thread about using ReMPEG? I'm really trying to find it. Can't search here :/ It's VERY interesting. Uses IFOedit and ReMPEG to scale bitrate, thus no reencoding.

For SVCD, do a max. bitrate of 2357, Q 70, min.bitrate 0 for first pass. That'll do :)

As for ifoedit and rempeg2, it's good for 1:1, but why 1:1 if you could do 2:1 or even 3:1? I like the challenge of re-creating the DVD menu from _my_ discs (the originals) :)

Oh, while rempeg2 does the transcoding, the I/B/P frames would still get tampered, thus resulting a smaller filesize.
