Hi,

I've been using this tool for some time now and I thought that perhaps other people might find it useful, too. So, here is the release.

You just start the tool and minimize DVD-RB while encoding. After 2 encoded segments the tool shows the remaining time that DVD-RB needs to finish the encoding process. It gets better the longer the encoding runs (for only one encoding process its precise from the beginning).

You can minimize the program to the system tray by pressing the OK button, then you'll get the remaining time in the tray icon tool tip. Or you can minimize it normally, then you'll see the time in the task bar.

EDIT: I just released a version (DVDRBEndEstGraph) that can show you a graph for every guess the tool does for the finishing time of the encoding process (like on the picture below). You'll notice that the guess gets pretty good after 10-15% of your encoding process.

So, here is the download:

Thanks! I'm going to try this on my next encode :)

Thanks Rumbah, I'll give it a go. :)

SCNR: And the highest accuracy is achieved when the process is over. No pun intended ;-). I'll get it at once.

Works like a charm, thanks for this handy little tool. :thanks:

does this end estimator work with the free version of DVD-RB 98.2? I can't get it to work.

Thanks, will try it , it should be made part of the DVD-RB code only, extremely useful tool

I'm not sure it does - you are the second person I have seen with this complaint.

As I use the pro version I've never tried it with the free version ;)
I'll try to fix it if I can reproduce it.

I'm sorry but the tool will not work with the free version of DVD-RB.
I see no way of easily getting the percentage of the encoding status. The pro version shows the progress in it's title when minimized but the free version does not.

@Rumbah

I love the dual program you coded that works with RB/HCenc. It has cut my DVD-RB time in half. Too bad end estimator won't work with version 98.2

What about using the fps from the encoder HCenc and the the total frames from DVD-RB step 1?

thanks

Well, I can't get the fps from HC. I could get data from the log file and the other files in the working directory but I don't have the time to do so as I would have to write a new program for it.

This does seem like something that could easily be "rolled into" the Pro version's title bar as a scroller. Cool idea.

I just added a version of DVDRBEndEst (DVDRBEndEstGraph) that can show the estimated finishing times in a graph. Just look at the first post for the download link and an example picture.
