View Full Version : IMGBurn Problem with burning process

I was trying to back up a DVD to a DVD+R DL (Verbatim)
just to see if I could get it to work and it keeps freezing
up on "Optimal L0 Data Zone Method: Copied From Original Disc."
I read an ISO and MDS and then try and write the thing and the
program just locks itself up and the DVD burner (HP DVD530i) also.
I end up having to cold boot and start over. Any pointers in the
right direction would be helpful. I've used the verify option and
the read files check out with the DVD. I'm probably missing
something simple, but its really starting to bug me. Here is the
entire log.

Hi!

If this is a commercial DVD, have you (as you must) first "ripped" it (Used another program to remove copy protection and then copy to your hard drive)?

Look in the program's status bar, it probably says it's doing something... that's where the problem lies.

ImgBurn always make Full erase? I can't erase disc in Quick mode. :(

@littlecricket

Perhaps I'm totally off base but, doesn't the following (from your post) represent the ripping of a DVD (Apparently a SONY release, based on the "Daikin" Source Media Implementation Identifier) TO your hard drive?:I 10:42:41 Source Device: [1:0:0] HP DVD Writer 530r VPS8 (E:) (ATA)
I 10:42:41 Source Media Type: DVD-ROM
I 10:42:41 Source Media Sectors: 3,549,987 (Track Path: PTP - L0: 1,802,912 - L1: 1,747,075)
I 10:42:41 Source Media Volume Identifier: MOVIE1
I 10:42:41 Source Media Implementation Identifier: Daikin U.S. Comtec Lab
I 10:42:41 Source Media File System(s): ISO9660, UDF (1.02)
I 10:42:41 Read Speed: MAX
I 10:42:41 Destination File: D:\ISO_TEMP\ImgBurn\MOVIE1.ISO
I 10:42:41 Destination Free Space: 174,502,256,640 bytes (170,412,360 KB) (166,418 MB) (162 GB)
I 10:42:41 Destination File System: NTFS
I 10:42:41 File Splitting: Auto
I 10:42:42 Reading Sectors... (LBA: 0 - 3549986)
I 10:42:42 Reading Layer 0... (LBA: 0 - 1802911)
I 10:50:35 Reading Layer 1... (LBA: 1802912 - 3549986)

I 10:58:14 Operation Successfully Completed! - Duration: 00:15:33If so, since IMGBurn can't rip such a disc, am I correct in presuming you had AnyDVD or DVD43 running at the same time? if so, it may have made for a corrupt .ISO image file...

ImgBurn always make Full erase? I can't erase disc in Quick mode. :(It does a full erase the first time. After that, you don't need to erase the DVD at all. Overwriting the current data is sufficient. (Info for DVD+RWs, I'm not sure for -RWs.)

I like very much the new button for erasing discs in 2.3.0.0, but I think when the disc is not rewritable it should be greyed out.
Thanks r0LZ for the reply, but I hope LightningUK to reply. I attached also a screenshot:

The disc is rewritable and you can see that it was already burned. Because of erasing problem I'm forced to use Nero. :(

did you try
unchecking
Settings --> Write --> Prefer properly formated +RW :)

LIGHTNING UK!

What r0lZ said is correct.

Once it says 'Formatted: Yes', it won't try to do a full format, it'll just overwrite the data.

If you'd rather leave your discs in a state of limbo, do as dirio49 said.

Thanks dirio49 for the advice! Quick erasing (few seconds) working!

Thank you also LIGHTNING UK! for the reply. I supposed that the full erase will take much time. I hope to think also for the erasing button to be greyed if no RW inserted. Or is always ON for another purpose?

yes, a full erase takes a while but you only have to do it once unless you use another program that messes it up again - ImgBurn will not mess it up.

I don't disable the erase feature in the menus, so it makes little sense to disable the button. I personally don't see it as a big deal that it's always enabled. It just wouldn't do anything if you used it on a WORM disc.
