I'm interested in create a uncommon menu, similar to a virtual tour:
I'd like to give to the user the ability to see all around (by remote control) and select the door (each door'll be connected to a different movie).

Unfortunatly i've no idea how to do that.
Any suggestion or sw i can use?

My idea is to base it on 6 images like a skybox or maybe a single cylindric image.

Thanks a lot

Best bet is to produce 'x' amount of still images for points on the compass as it were (Looking N, S, E, W etc), and then create video transitions to link each still menu together.

You can't have a fluid rotating view like a QTVR.

A good example of this method is the main menu from "The Abyss" special edition.

I think Gangs of New York has something similiar.

Check out the Revolver and Little Britain S3 DVDs. They both do the same thing. Using hidden buttons and auto actions pressing left will play a transition turning left, pressing right will go right, etc...

Simple to do, but can result in a lot of transitions and stills, depending on how big you want to make it. Don't forget you could also look up and down too, but this would also increase the amount of transitions etc...

Cheers,
D.

I'll look at those dvd asap, are you talking about the us edition of them? Because i'm sure that the ita version of Gangs of New York has not the same menu.

Gangs of New York was the UK version.

Revolver and Little Britain S3 were both the UK versions. Not too sure about the US versions though.
