Call this a plea for help or a feature request, I don't know which. I've recently started using DVD-RB and backed up World Trade Center and found it was very difficult to work with audio tracks. Since the main movie has 5 audio tracks, with only 3 unique names it was very difficult to tell which was which, and of course they aren't playable individually in the preview/edit window. I wanted to rip one of the tracks that had the same name as 2 others so I ended up encoding 3 times until I wound up with a dvd missing the track I didn't want. Seems like there needs to be a way to preview and blank out audio tracks in the preview window, and having it instantly update in the size/bitrate fields just as it does now for video without having to run PREPARE again everytime you make a change in the audio input settings. How is this generally done by other hardcore DVD-RB "3-clickers"??

Open up your DVD in DVD shrink or a software DVD player. The tracks that you see in the RB screen will be in the same order as you see in the Shrink/player. You then need to remember/or write it down, which ones to remove.

Good tip, thanks. Yes I see now the tracks appear in the same order in the player as they do in DVD-RB, and they are playable.

Are audio streams for blanked titles removed automatically? I mean...who really needs an unplayable audio track for a blank title?... but it does appear that when blanking titles manually in the preview/edit screen it does not show the extra disk space made available by blanking their audio streams until you blank them manually and run PREPARE again.

You can always run pgcedit at the end of dvd-rb session and fix the audio and timetables. It works great.

If you blank it, the audio is blanked as well.

It would be nice if the preview would allow you to select audio streams. Something like Shrink uses would be nice.

jdobbs, after looking at my final DVD I found that the audio was blanked but the references to them are still there. That is, while the movie is playing (MPC) I can still select the audio streams. No audio though, except for the ones I chose to keep.

Is this done on purpose? I would love to remove all reference to them when they are removed.

Using 1.22.

Yes. Removing the references increases the likelihood of problems related to how the menus and streams are processed. I decided it was better to leave the references.

I have had a little trouble with this also. I posted here: http://dvd-rb.dvd2go.org/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=1213 about it but didn't get much help.
I only have troubles on one player, so it isn't a big deal, just wish I could correct it.

I remap the blanked out audio to ones that are not. That way I don't get concerned that audio is missing due to something I did wrong. :)

You can remove it safely using PGCedit, domain stream attributes option, afterwards.

And when everything fails you can always go ifoedit and remove the references. Or if your first audio is unreferenced and blanked and your only audio is not the first one you can always move the reference to the first one. Just remember to move the referenced audio to the buttons too.
