Just recently I have installed my Radeon 8500 (sadly LE), and reinstalled my Windows 98SE. The problem I'm having is that none of my divx movies play smoothly (using hardware) in fullscreen (or anything higher than 100% in media player), but rather stay in software mode. Generally this happened to me as well when I was using the Radeon 7200, when switching from 100% to full screen, there was a second of software mode and then automatically switched to hardware. With the Radeon 8500, this doesn't happen. Personally, I don't think that the card is the problem, but possibly I forgot to install something? Whenever I reinstall my OS, I usually tend to forget something. Thanks.
